Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) is a state corporation responsible for conservation and utilisation of animal genetic resources in Kenya. The Veterinary Officer supports breeding technologies, gene banking, conservation, and germplasm production activities.

Key Responsibilities

•Preparing livestock production reports and analysing livestock inputs and product samples

•Participating in livestock improvement and multiplication

•Undertaking genomic evaluation of livestock and developing sire catalogues

•Maintaining national livestock resources gene bank

•Taking stock of livestock tissues, DNA, semen and embryos of all livestock and emerging species

•Identifying endangered species and undertaking conservation activities

•Supervising germplasm media preparation, collection, evaluation, processing, packaging and preservation

•Training staff and stakeholders in germplasm processing

•Participating in research activities pertaining to genebanking, conservation and germplasm production

Requirements

✓Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

✓Registered by Kenya Veterinary Board and in good standing

✓Proficiency in Computer Application
