The National Construction Authority (NCA) is Kenya's construction industry regulator. The Manager, Field Services leads field operations including inspection of construction works, enforcement of building codes, registration of projects, contractor regulation, and occupational safety and health at construction sites. Key Responsibilities
•Coordinating the development, implementation and review of policies, strategies and frameworks on field services
•Spearheading inspection of construction works and enforcement of the Building Code
•Coordinating registration of all projects and payments of construction levies
•Evaluating and recommending applications for registration and categorization of contractors
•Evaluating applications for accreditation of skilled construction workers and site supervisors
•Facilitating Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of contractors and CTD for skilled construction workers
•Spearheading implementation of occupational safety and health standards at construction sites
•Managing, mentoring, coaching and developing staff in the department
Requirements
✓Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years' work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of an Assistant Manager, Construction Development and Coordination or in a comparable position and organization
✓Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: - Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, recognized institution
✓Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: - Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Planning and Management from a recognized institution
✓Membership to any of the following: Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK), Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), in good standing
✓Registration as a professional to any of the following regulatory bodies: Board of Registration of Architects & Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS), Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
✓Valid professional practicing license
✓Certificate in leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
✓Proficiency in computer applications
✓Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and results
✓Exhibited a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to NCA's mandate
